About The Event

It is our pleasure to announce that the 17th Annual ROTARY KEY BISCAYNE WINE & FOOD FEST will be held on Friday, November 18th  2022, from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm at the Fairways on the Key. The evening’s proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club of Key Biscayne Foundation (RCKBF) and its affiliated charities for adults and children.

In this year’s showdown, five judges will taste some of the finest wines produced worldwide. This will not be a competition between the new world vs the old world – here every bottle of wine will be judged by its own attributes! 21 wine varietals, five judges, and two winning finalists.

The evening begins with a tasty Prosecco upon arrival to “season the palate” for the wonderful wines to follow.  More than 30 wines will be offered including the wines participating in the competition.

Shari Gherman, president of the American Fine Wine Competition & Gala, will join us again as our wine director and five noted wine professionals will be judging these exciting wines: Wendy RosanoRoberto Colombi, Jen Schmitt, Delius Shirley and Todd Lind

All presented wines have been graciously supplied by Strategic Importers and will be available for sale at the event through The Golden Hog, our official wine retailer. The Golden Hog will coordinate all orders, purchases, delivery and pickup.

New this year, Robert Rex, Deerfield Ranch Winery, 2018 Winemaker of the Year, will be hosting a special seminar on “How to Blend the Five Noble Grapes” for a select group of 30 individuals. VIP / RSVP event. Meet the Wine Maker

In addition, Rotary’s collaboration continues with The Arc of South Florida. The Arc of South Florida’s members will organize a on-line silent auction and receive part of the proceeds to fund its programming. Auction lots will consist of items, including travel, restaurant vouchers, sports memorabilia, and select goods and services. Rather than each organization holding an independent fundraising event, The Arc of South Florida works together with the Rotary Club of Key Biscayne Foundation to offer attendees a wonderful evening and an opportunity to support charitable efforts in our community.

Domestically, the evening’s proceeds will benefit the Arc of South Florida’s programs and services for children and adults with disabilities and special needs. Internationally, proceeds will benefit The Rotary International Foundation’s work in the areas of education, water, sanitation and economic development in emerging countries.  Over the past four years, the Rotary Club of Key Biscayne has successfully obtained matching grants from local Rotary District 6990 and The Rotary International Foundation in Evanston, IL exceeding $500,000 to maximize the charitable impact of this fundraiser.

The proceeds from this event qualify for multiple matching grants. Proceeds allocated to domestic charitable causes are matched 100% by the local Rotary district, while proceeds allocated to international charitable causes are matched by both the local Rotary district and Rotary International, for a combined total match of 250%. Over the past two years, the Rotary Club of Key Biscayne has successfully obtained matching grants exceeding $60,000 to maximize the charitable impact of this fund raiser.
